about

I met up with Rupert & La from Grand National after supporting them at The Altitude Festival in Meribel with my band Emotiquon, back in 2008. Upon arriving back home, we contacted them again to arrange to do a remix of Cut By The Brakes.

The Emotiquon remix came first. We liked it so much that we set about trying to release it. After lengthy discussions with Rob Da Bank's label Sunday Best, we decided it was best to set up a small indie label in order to release it as an EP with several other remixes.

Microrave Records was born. I bought I license from Sunday Best in order to sell the recordings, then put together the remix EP. We managed to get the Japanese Popstars version onto the single, along with the original version, Emotiquon remix and a cracking progressive/breaks remix by Glasgow duo Modifier.

The Voltergeist remix was the last one to produce. I felt that the original could be taken to an even darker place.

The license expires this year, after which time the release will have to be deleted. Grab it now.

Voltergeist is a collection of ideas, primarily sound based, which are carefully mixed together to create an harmonic "map" with the aim of inducing sound → color/movement synesthesia, sound → gustatory synesthesia, or tonal/sonic personification.
